Leadership at Southeastern Med
April 12th, 2010 by admin
Southeastern Med operates with the belief that all associates are leaders in their own right and are accountable for their actions and behaviors. At the same time we understand an organization does not succeed based on the actions of one individual but instead succeeds based on the actions of the group’s teamwork. Whether the team be a group of RNs, a surgical suite or cross-department group following a patient’s flow of care, each person must be the leader in his role by doing what is needed, not necessarily the leader who is directing others.
Organizational Structure Southeastern Med’s management structure encourages associates to think on their own and become creative parts of the solution to continue to improve the Medical Center. We understand organizations cannot remain frigid and continue to offer the services the community or staff needs so we must constantly adapt. The best way to do this is with the help of our very own associates. Each department has a director responsible for its overall operation. Among other items, the director works with daily staffing and schedules, associate evaluation and performance, budgets and department education. The director is also responsible to “work the job” as necessary to ensure assignments are completed timely. Each department director reports to a member of Senior Management. Currently the medical center’s Senior Management team consists of the President & CEO and five vice-presidents. Senior Management in turn reports to our Board of Directors, a group of individuals who volunteer their time to help the organization succeed.
