Safety & Security


Southeastern Med enforces an extensive safety program to ensure the safety of all patients, visitors and personnel. If there is a fire or disaster drill while you are here, please do not be alarmed. These drills are a necessary and vital part of the medical center’s safety program.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping the medical center maintain a safe environment by following the guidelines listed below.

Smoke Free Policy
Thank you for not smoking. Because of our commitment to wellness, Southeastern Med is a smoke-free environment.

Fire Safety Measures
Please ask your nurse to have our maintenance personnel check any personally owned plug-in electrical appliance for safety.

Security
The security officers are available to assist visitors, patients and personnel with security measures as well as to provide evening escort service to and from their vehicle.

To avoid theft:

  • Leave valuables at home
  • Request that any valuables, that must be brought, be locked in the medical center safe.
  • Keep eyeglasses, dentures, and contact lenses in their proper receptacles in your bedside cabinet. We cannot be responsible for lost or damaged items.

Lost and Found
If you lose an item of value, please notify your nurse immediately. Unclaimed items are turned in to the security office, where they are kept for 90 days. To inquire about lost items, please call 740.439.8998.

Patient Responsibilities Related to Patient Safety
Individuals are encouraged to contact Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center’s management regarding any concerns about patient care and safety in the hospital that the hospital has not addressed.
