Interventional Radiology Instructions Pre-procedure Care
Once your physician has ordered an exam to be performed in the Imaging department you will receive a phone call from one of the Radiology Nurses. The Nurse will then provide you with your appointment, date, time, plus any activity, medication, or eating restrictions. Normally you can eat and drink before your exam and take most types of medications. We will call you as soon as we find out that your physician has ordered your exam. It is helpful to have a current list of your medications available for the nurse to review with you during this call.
Please have your lab work obtained as soon as possible, either at your physicians office or at the medical center. If you want to speak to a nurse and you are at the medical center for your lab work please ask the lab tech to page the x-ray nurse after you have finished with your lab work. We will be happy to talk with about your procedure. The lab work is drawn to check your blood count (CBC), any clotting problems (PT/PTT), and your kidney function (BUN/Creatinine®).
Your physician will fax us your medical history and physical exam and lab reports so that we has access to this information prior to your procedure.
If you have any questions at all regarding you exam, or need to speak with a nurse at any time, please call one of the nurses at 439-8085 and leave a voice message if we are not available. We will return your call as soon as possible.
