The Endoscopy department here at Southeastern Med is dedicated to providing the highest quality care in a relaxed, comfortable and private setting. Services Provided

  • EGD Upper Endoscopy (esophagogastroduodendoscopy)

    A visual exam of the upper intestinal tract with a fiber optic flexible video endoscope.

Possible Diagnostic Findings:

  • Peptic Ulcer Disease

  • Hiatus Hernia

  • Helicobacter Pylori

  • Gastro paresis

  • Gastro esophageal Reflux Disease

  • Gastritis

  • Esopheal Stricture

  • Barrett’s Esophagus

  • Colonoscopy (A visual exam of the large intestine with a fiber optic video endoscope.)

Possible Diagnostic Findings:

  • Polyps

  • Crohns Disease

  • Diverticulosis

  • Diverticulitis

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome

  • Hemorrhoids

  • Ulcerative Colitis

  • Fissure

  • Abscess

  • Fistula

  • Colon Cancer

  • Benign Tumor

  • Stricture

  • TEE (Transesophageal Echocardiography)

A test that takes unique pictures of the heart, heart valves, and the major blood vessels using sonar or sound waves.

Reasons for the exam:

A TEE may be used to study any of the following.

  • The pumping action of the heart especially the important lower-left chamber

  • The valves of the heart, which open and close to prevent blood from flowing backward

  • Holes or defects between chambers

  • The major blood vessels going to and leaving the heart

Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

A visual exam of the inside of the rectum and sigmoid colon using a flexible fiber optic video endoscope

Possible Diagnostic Findings:

  • Polyps

  • Rectal Cancer

  • Tumors in early stage

Capsule Endoscopy (PillCam)

Capsule endoscopy enables your doctor to examine your entire small intestine. You will ingest a video capsule { about the size of a daily vitamin } that has its own camera and light source. Wearing a recorder you can go about your daily activities and return about eight hours later to return the recorder and leave. The information will be processed and an estimated 60,000 pictures will be formatted into a 40-minute video of the small intestine for the physician to review .

  • Ulcerative Colitis

  • Stricture

  • Tumors

  • Arteriovenous Malformations

  • Celiac Disease

  • Sarcoidosis

  • Cytomegalovirus

  • Tuberculosis

  • Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare

The Endoscopy unit is located on 3-West (third floor across the ramp)

Hours of Operation are Monday
Friday 07:00 AM –3:30 PM with 24 hour call for emergency cases.
