An organization’s success depends on the success of its employees. At Southeastern Med, we understand that employees are more likely to succeed when they’re equipped with the resources to do so. From the beginning interview, employees are provided with information about the history and current standing of our Cambridge, Ohio, community hospital and health system.
Orientation and Assessment
New associates are scheduled to attend orientation and training to better understand their responsibilities as a member of our team and our health system.
New associates are introduced to their department and position at the hospital with our employee education and training program. At this time, they must complete an assessment and have their skills verified by an appropriate staff member. New associates are also assigned a preceptor to become acclimated to the general routine of their position while under the guidance of a current associate. After approximately 90 days, an evaluation is given by a department supervisor or director. Annual evaluations are then conducted for each associate, allowing an interactive discussion on performance, goals, objectives and initiatives for the coming year.
We strive to maintain only the highest level of care for our patients. Our ongoing education program is one of the ways we achieve that goal. All of our employees are required to maintain competence in their position and department through assessments and hands-on training to ensure that we can provide our patients and community with the best possible care. We provide staff members with the resources they need, including access to our computer lab and the internet, to help our facility remain modern and efficient.
We encourage continuing education with other opportunities available to our staff, including access to online education, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP and many other courses for nursing personnel; introductory and immediate training for office programs; and access to onsite educational offerings, continuing education workshops, seminars, webinars and conferences.
Tuition Assistance and Certification
We’re committed to giving our employees opportunities to advance their careers and improve their skills. Our tuition assistance program helps eligible associates continue their education to obtain an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in an approved area. We see the completion of degree, certification or licensure courses from an accredited licensing agency as a benefit for the associate and a contribution toward the success of our facilities and the communities of Cambridge and Guernsey County.
Associates are also encouraged to obtain specialty certifications in the areas in which they work. Reimbursements and compensation are available for qualifying areas.
