Orthopedic Injury Clinic FAQs

Q: Who will I see at the injury clinic?

A: You will be personally evaluated and treated by Dr. Robert Huff, Sports Medicine physician, and on the rare occasion he is unavailable, our staff will assist you in scheduling a same-day appointment with a collaborating and qualified orthopedic physician nearby.

Q: How do I make an appointment?

A: Please call our office number (740)435-4022 so that we can best assist you. If possible, please call in the morning as that gives us the best chance of scheduling you for that same day.

Q: How much of a wait should I expect?

A: While we wish we could guarantee little or no waiting time, the injury clinic is run in conjunction with the physicians’ regular clinic schedules. As our patient, you are important to us, and we will give you the appropriate time and treatment you need. It is likely your wait time in our injury clinic will be significantly less than a visit to the emergency room.

Q: What are the benefits of seeking care at an orthopedic injury clinic in comparison to an urgent care or emergency room visit?

A: Orthopedic injuries often involve the need for special considerations with regard to bones, muscles, and tendons as well as special x-ray views needed based on the mechanism of injury and the age of the patient. Initial treatment may also involve the need for splinting and casting. These types of injuries require an orthopedic approach to the evaluation and treatment that we are happy to provide.

Q: How do I know when to call for an urgent orthopedic injury clinic visit versus scheduling a normal appointment for evaluation?

A: If you have a sudden injury as a result of an accident, a work injury, sports injury, or an injury from other types of physical activity, then you’ll want to call us so that we can schedule you promptly within the orthopedic injury clinic. These injuries may include any concern for a broken bone, acute sudden or painful joints, sudden severe pain as a result of an injury, or concern for joint dislocation. If you have an ongoing condition or a minor injury with minimal pain, we are still happy to schedule you for a normal appointment time, or you may opt to see your primary care physician first.
